Healthy lifestyle



There is more then one aspect of what is called a ‘healthy lifestyle’. A healthy lifestyle is often associated solely with a low-fat diet. It is also quite common to see people jog in the morning, and then eat junk food in the afternoon. Sleeping long hours will not have a positive effect on anyone if it is combined with bad eating habits and a sedentary way of life.Therefore, it is essential to realize that living one’s life in a healthy way cannot be limited to just one of the aspects mentioned above. It should contain all of them. Accordingly, a healthy lifestyle involves eating a nutritious diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep at night.

Eat a variety of nutritious foods from all the food groups.

You may be eating plenty of food, but your body may not be getting the nutrients it needs to be healthy. Nutrient-rich foods have vitamins, minerals, fiber and other nutrients but are lower in calories. To get the nutrients you need, choose foods like vegetables, fruits, whole-grain products and fat-free or low-fat dairy products most often

  • Vegetables and fruits are high in vitamins, minerals and fiber — and they’re low in calories. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables may help you control your weight and your blood pressure.
  • Unrefined whole-grain foods contain fiber that can help lower your blood cholesterol and help you feel full, which may help you manage your weight.
  • Eat fish at least twice a week. Recent research shows that eating oily fish containing omega-3 fatty acids (for example, salmon, trout, and herring) may help lower your risk of death from coronary artery disease.

Physical Activity in Your Daily Life:

Play and recreation are important for good health. Look for opportunities such as these to be active and have fun at the same time:

  • Plan family outings and vacations that include physical activity (hiking, backpacking, swimming, etc.)
  • See the sights in new cities by walking, jogging or bicycling.
  • Make a date with a friend to enjoy your favourite physical activities. Do them regularly.
  • Play your favourite music while exercising, something that motivates you.
  • Dance with someone or by yourself. Take dancing lessons. Hit the dance floor on fast numbers instead of slow ones.
  • Join a recreational club t hat emphasizes physical activity.
  • At the beach, sit and watch the waves instead of lying flat. Better yet, get up and walk, run or fly a kite.
  • When golfing, walk instead of using a cart.
  • Play singles tennis or racquet ball instead of doubles.
  • At a picnic, join in on badminton instead of croquet.
  • At the lake, rent a row boat instead of a canoe.

Nordic walking
Nordic walking is defined as fitness walking with specially designed poles. It evolved from an off-season ski-training activity known as sk

i walking, hill bounding or ski striding to become a way of exercising year-round. Ski walking and hill bounding with poles has been practiced for decades as dry land training for competitive cross-country skiing. Ski coaches saw the success of world-class cross-country skiers who used ski poles in the summer for ski walking and hill bounding, and it became a staple of off-season Nordic ski training. Hikers with knee pain discovered they could walk more powerfully with a pair of trekking poles, often eliminate or reduce hip, knee, and foot pain, and backpackers found relief from painful backs when using poles.

  1. Of course I agree that keeping fit is very good for our body and gives a chance to live longer. Nowdays it is also trendy, I think. Unfortunately it isn't easy to lead a healthy life, especially for students. To have a healthy life one should have much free time and money. That's why students often only say and pretend they lead such life. Especially lack of free time is a big problem. Young people often eat eg. fatty and unhealthy fast foods, as they are easy and fast to get, and moreover relativly cheap. Of course everyone has freedom of choice, but we should remember that our present way of living will have effects till our death.

  2. I also agree with Michał tha keeping fit is very good and important for our health. I also agree that it is trendy, but I think that for many people who work it isn't possible. They live fast and eat fast-food. Eating healthy foor is more laborious. Even they try thay can't do everythink what the should.

  3. I also agree, that healthy lifestyle is good for people, their bodies and minds, it gives them energy and - especially after physical effort - satisfaction. But in cause of people, who work all day or students, who have no time for anything it's maybe not impossible, because you can do everything, if you want - but difficult. It demands strong motivation. For me, tired after whole week, it's really not easy to force myself even to work out in gym on PE at Friday.

  4. Of course, making sports and keeping fit are very important, but I don't have as much time as I want to for it. Too many people in all ages don't take care of their condition and some of them think that healthy diet is everything what their body needs. There are so many ways to spend time actively, that it is inexplicable for me, why people don't take advanatege of it. They can for example: jogging, walking, bicycling or play team sports, but personally I especially like swimming and when I only have some time I spend it with pleasure on a swimming pool.

  5. Probably most of people don't care about their lifestyle, diet, sport. But when first heart attack come evertyhing change. People quit smoking, resign of junk food and start workout three times a week. We don't appreciate things until we lose it. Ofcourse in these days many people take care of themselves, but most of society still have the same habits as Henry VIII.

  6. Yes, healthy lifestyle is beginnig more and more trendy. And it's good. But I think that sometimes people stop to think rationally. It doesn't make sense: buying a membercard of trendy fitness club and going there by car even if it's a few steps from home. Or eating a lot of fresh vegetables etc. but never having time for breakfast. Healthy means rational for me.

  7. In my opinion helathy lifestyle should be important for everyone. Young people often think, that they will be young forever and they have a lot of time. Now they can do everything without a fear about their body. But one day they will notice that they aren.t fit and healthy. It is sad, but talking about fitness is easy and doing something isn't.
    I know, because I don't live healthy: I haven't time for sport and I don't sleep enough. Only food isn't a problem, because I like fruits and vegetables, but don't like fast food.

  9. Healthy lifestyle is important and it requires some free time but, in my opinion, you don’t need a lot of money to do some sports, eg. jogging because all what you need is a readiness to do it.
    The fact that someone prefer watching TV to do some exercises depends on our habits and the people around who influences us. Some people can rest actively, the others not and I think that it is the underlying cause of avoiding sports.

  10. In my opinion healthy lifestyle is good but not for me. I don't like to eat only vegetables and frut and I don't nave time for sport. So I think this lifestyle is god for people who are on rent or have a normalise situation of live.

  12. In my opinion healthy lifestyle is very important for us. It contains in your daily diet and physical exercises which have a great impact on your sanity. I think that in modern world we're in hurry all the time and we don't care about this aspects of life very much. Most of us eat junk food which slows down our metabolism. Additionally candy make that after a few moments we're more hungry than before it them.
    I belive that we should pay more attention to exercises. Of course for students it's hard to find free time to do them and usually if we have it we're too much tired. Fortunatelly there's a simple way to keep fit. Go faster to school, do not take a bus when yor' re going somewhere nearly. Certainl it will give you a healthy glow.

  14. It's so much easier to live unhealthily than healthily. There are lots of fast food restaurants, thery're almost everywhere but it's hard to find a place where you can eat healthy and tasty food. Of course, in big cities you're able to find some but healthy way of life should be available to everyone. I agree that we should think about the future, not only about present. We're responsible for our bodies and we should take care of them.

  15. General, keeping fit is the best for our health condition. Our bodies need some activity every day. But when we're student, often we must do other importans things, instead of, eg. running every evening - in the mornings we're sleeping. In my life, I've been training athletics for six years and I think it is a good choice to keep fit. Also eating 'healthy' food is a good point, but not as important as swimming every week.

  16. Keeping fit is the best thing which we can make for our organism. Believe, when you do sports and eat healthy things you just feel better. I know it because I started running few months ago:-) And of course good diet and sports are the best for being slim;-)

  17. In my opinion it's not easy to have a healthy lifestyle when you're a student who must reconcile small budget with a little time and a plenty of study. You can always find some time for jogging, that's true, but it's much harder with healthy food. Organic products are always much more expensive than regular. Fruits and vegetables when not in season are also not cheap food. There are of course deep-frozen foods but not all are as fine as fresh. Making a meal also takes some time. It's easier to order something or to use processed food. Of course it's not good for poor student but what to do..?

  18. I totally agree that keeping fit and leading a health life-style is extremely important. In my opinion, it doesn't have to be so expensive. Of course I don't mean buying organic food which isn't unfortunately cheap. It's enough to make just a little effort, for example get off the bus one bus-stop earlier and walk, limit the time in front of TV and turn on some music and do 10 minutes of streaching. Instead of sweets eat fruits and drink juices. If you have to eat out choose those restaurants which serves healthy meals - there are quite cheap green or salad bars.
    I cannot imagine my life without sport - which is my hobby and the vision of eating fast food like hamburgers is just disgusting for me.

  19. Healthy life style is for sad people. What is the meaning of life when you must follow strict rules all the time. So called fit people can't fully enjoy their lives, they want to die in good health. The worst thing about those healthy people is that they are trying to convert you on their way of life all the time. It's very annoying.

  20. There is something in it, if we get "unhealthy" as against the rules and free. My lifestyle is neither healthy nor unhealthy. When I want to eat a chickenburger from MD I just do it (not so often, fortunately :)). There are also some weird days I want to eat green salad for breakfast, dinner and supper. Maybe I go to extremes. I practice sport with pleasure and moderation. You're talking about overworked students, who have no time for sports. I think it's simple laziness and bad job/time organization.

  21. I think there's some point in what Filip wrote. What always discourages me about taking my sports activities to a higher level is the regime of training. I'm rather kind of person who says: "I'll run today" than "I need to run today 5 kilometers to complete my training schedule". Sport for me is just a pure fun :)

  22. I don't agree with Filip. I think that his point of view is connected with eating too many hamburgers;-) I thing that healthy lifestyle improves our mood. When I go to the gym or run I feel much better. And I don't thing that I'm sad. I just feel free:-)

  23. I started leading sporty life style this year. In October I attended to university swimming section and now I spend 1.5 hour free times a week at the swimming pool. At first it was hard to swim so much but every next training i feel better. Swimming improve my mood and makes me feel more healthier.

  24. I agree with this what I read about healthy life in this post, but I may add one thing which in my opinion is important too. If we have a good diet we can't stop eating breakfest or lunch, we should eat a four or five meals on a day. We should remmembered always eat friut or vegetables to our meal, as main dish or as dessert.

  25. I always want leading healthy life but nowadays people don't have enough time to prepare a healthy and appetising meal. They are always in a hurry. This is why they prefer visiting such places as McDonald's. Everyone likes eating something that smells like typical McDonald's menu. When you come into this restaurant, the smell of food hits you. But fast food places provide a minimum standard.

  26. It's hard to disagree that a healthy lifestyle is very good for people. But it's not good when someone cultivates healthy lifestyle just because it is trendy. I really enjoy your presentation because you mension why healthy lifestyle is good and you give practical advice.

    Instead of buying organic food in special shops, I recommend physical activity in everyday activities - it's free. Healthy lifestyle can also mean drink lots of water, eat slowly and sleep well.

  27. Living a healthy life is great. Sometimes it might be difficult to change your daily activities, routines but it's surely worth doing.

    The hardest part is to start. I know about myself, it was laziness but I got motivated to start. About a year ago I started to eat more healthy food, more fruits, vegetables, less meat and meat-like food, water, tea, fresh juice, yogurt.

    Nowadays I like to go swimming, I'm taking up gym and when the weather will be back with the sun - basketball not in the gymnasium - till then maybe there'd be a chance to meet up with some friends and play inside.

  28. My way to be healthy is very easy. I walk in mountains, go to aerobic and gym. I try eat healthy, because I wouldn't like have heard attack, for example.
    Unfortunately, I don't have any time for other sport disciplines...

  29. Caring for yourself is now trendy. I think it's good because it is like now we care about our health will affect the future. That is why it is so important not to treat your body like a bin where you can throw everything (I mean fast food and food of various kinds such as amino). I know that in today's fast lifestyles when we have very little time is difficult especially since there are many restaurants everywhere fast-food but we should ask ourselves what is more important for our the health or comfort

  31. Like most of you, I agree that we should take care of our health because it will affect ours later body condition. However it is hard (almost impossible) always to abide by all the rules, like for example sleeping 8 hours, eating not trashy meals at the same time every day, and doing exercices somwhere in between. Life isn't so easygoing in that case. But we should try of course to do our best.

  35. Healthy lifestyle is a challenge, especially for those people who are trying it by being 20 or older, it takes a lot of willpower. It is much easier to get used to it when you are a child. I have tried to put a healthy lifestyle into effect, but my habits, like for example eating a lot of sweets, are stronger. The funniest thing is that I can't keep the balance, for one month I'm leading a healthy lifestyle, for next two months I'm eating chocolate.

  37. To be frank I don't care about healthy lifestyle. I don't have problems with health or weight despite the fact, that I don't do a lot of sport. I suppose, that in the future I'll have to change my lifestyle and become more interested in my health, but currently I prefer to focus my mind on spiritual issues. BTW I don't understand why we talk so often about fitness and hardly ever about lack of metaphysic in life of many of us (which I think is more serious problem).

    But everyone can do something to health for example quit smoking, eat vagetables and fruits instead of fast food. I think it isn't difficult.

  39. Of course, healthy lifestyle is very importing thing in life! Young people should think about health and practice sport, avoid stress, quit smoking and first of all - eat healthy! But in my opinion it is not possible in real life to do it in 100%! I am trying to keep my body in good form but this is really hard when You have to study a lot. But of course, everybody should trying to keep a good health, eat vagetables and practice sport.

But reality is brutal - we all can say that everybody should eat healthy etc. but only few of us will do it by themselves. When it comes to me - sometimes I eat healthy, sometimes not.   41. I think nordic walking is a very good idea. I go to a walk everyday and a lot of people encourage me to buy designed poles. In our time move is a very important. We haven't got a time, so we often eat fast foods and we forget about our health.

Many people want to life healthly but they haven't so much time for this, for example doing sports.   43. It is positive information that healthly lifestyle is becoming more and more popular. It seems that not only young people are interested in it. Nowdays we can notice that aged people try to spend healtly theri free time. I agree with opinions that in Poland most of citizens can not afford for buying "better" food. People from Warsaw aften are not aware of level of living in other parts of country and can not base their opinions on real facts.

  47. We should care about lifestyle and decide what to eat, how to spend free time and how to relax. I try to eat healthy food , move as much as possible and relax from time to time. I jog in the morning, swim once a week and cycle when the weather is good. I haven't got time for nothing more.

    Once it was strange to me, and funny. But some day my mom bought bats to nordic walking and together with her friend began to cultivate this sport. Then I thought that this is better than sitting and watching TV. Nordic walking is healthy for mind and body. I see it in my mom. I am a strong supporter of every form of physical motion.

  50. I agree that nowadays it isn't easy to lead a healthy lifestyle especially for students and people who work a lot for example in the office. We lead a sedentary lifestyle. If someone have lectures five days a week and go to work at weekends and have a lot of study - he don't have a lot to time to spend it in interesting and active way. But I think if you want, you find one hour two times a week to running or bicycling, you can also choose aerobic on physical education instead of joga. With food it isn't so much problem to take a sandwich with ham and lettuce and an apple on lunch instead of doughnuts.

  51. I agree with Aneta. We live in a constant race. We have no time and no wonder why it is important to lead healthy lifestyle. It is important to not limit yourself to only one of health aspects.We have to take care of proper diet:eat vegetables and fruits do sports take care of good night's sleep and positive relationships with others. We need to take care of our physical health in which help us sport like running cycling swimming etc, and mental health which will help us become a happy man :)

    But nowadays, especially students don't have a lot of time. For example have a home-made food (by mother-it's easier).
    Hard-working pers.-s esp. students would have more free time to do healthier things. It means eat (yeah) healthy-food (not GM's) or take nordic- walking

  53. I think each of us trying to care for a healthy lifestyle, but do not always have the time and have enough willpower. I, for example, I try to go swimming at least once a week and run when it's warm morning in a nearby park. Of course, I do not always go to regularly. But I think all of us should even try, because in old age we can have big health problems.

  56. I think that in our days the situation is changing. I see that my friends are more interested what they eat. We have many TV’s shows where we can learn what we have to eat and which activities are good for our health. We are more aware when we buy food. And sport are very popular. All of my friends are doing a physical activity. The most popular is gym where you can meet your friends and to do some exercice instead of eating in a fast food restaurant.

Many thousands of people die in the world due to obesity. Unhealthy foods, sedentary lifestyle, owning a car and move it anywhere really reduces our efficiency. That is why it is so important is to eat several times a day servings of fruits and vegetables, avoid processed foods, fast food and start exercising regularly.

  59. A healthy lifestyle is very important and everyone should be observed, but today, unfortunately, it is difficult for the basic things That allow us to take care of themselves. The food is more processed, the environment becoming more polluted. The movement is needed, but if the movement in the air by as much pollution is certainly healthy? Is the food that we are condemned which is not in itself of heavy metals and pesticides. Who can afford now to own a vegetable? And if the rain is not sour, and all our products do not acidify our body? Today it is hard to be really healthy. Unfortunately we live in a time when we look at only on the quantity, not the quality.

  60. I think probably everyone knows theoretically how to live healthy. But in practice it's not that easy. I see it from my experience. My mother is a dietician so she always tried to teach me healthy eating. Unfortunately, with little success. Now it is even worse because I live without my parents and I totally can't cook!

  61. I know that my lifestyle isn't healthy as much as it should be, but I'm trying my best. I do sports twice a week - playing tennis and basketball. Everyday I eat breakfast, which is the most important meal during whole day. I eat some vegetables and fruits during the day, but I deffinitely should eat them more and less sweets. I also sleep about 7 hours, but not always it makes me feel well-rested. There are many things that I should do to live healthier but unfortunately sometimes I've got too less time for it. To sum up I will say that bringing all the suggestions on aren't that easy, how it looks.
